Gwen Keenan (Cohort VII), Director, Office of Emergency Response of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, was chairperson of the 2013 Clean Gulf conference held last week in Tampa, Florida. The conference gathered more than 2,000 people from industry, government, and non-profit groups to address critical issues in preparedness and response in the region.
Eric McNulty, the NPLI’s Director of Research and Professional Programs, delivered the opening keynote address on meta-leadership lessons for multi-jurisdictional events. He noted that the NPLI’s field research began in the Gulf in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and continued through the Deepwater Horizon oil spill. The NPLI is currently engaged in various training efforts in the region.
