Evans Named Boston Police Commissioner

William “Billy” Evans (Cohort X) has been appointed commissioner of the Boston Police Department by recently inaugurated Boston mayor Martin Walsh. Evans is a 31-year veteran of the force and recently served as interim commissioner. He has been praised for his leadership roles in the response to the Boston Marathon bombings and in the BPD’s response to the Occupy movement’s activities in the city.

Evans has been generous in his time as the NPLI has explored the lessons learned from the Marathon bombings. We wish him the best in his tenure as commissioner.
