Brinsfield Named Assistant Secretary at DHS

President Obama has named Dr. Kathryn Brinsfield (Cohort I) to be Assistant Secretary for Health Affairs and Chief Medical Officer at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). She had been serving in this role in an acting capacity since 2013.

Brinsfield has served at DHS since 2008 after a career at the Boston Public Health Commission. She also served as Director of Medical Preparedness Policy as part of the National Security Staff during 2012-2013.
